We worked with Derek to perfect a new mouthpiece that would allow him to perform his extraordinary ‘Beatbox’ techniques with less effort and just the right sound and response. The result is the new DV BEATBoX Tenor. A silver-plated customized DV mouthpiece in Derek’s preferred #5 Tip Opening”

This piece really draws you into the world of the extraordinary talent, Derek Brown. I didn’t know where to start when trying to emulate some of his techniques but the moment you try flitting between bass notes and mid-range notes, all heavily tongued, you realise that it’s totally possible on this mouthpiece. 

At first I struggled with the small aperture, but the more I experimented with these techniques I realised that it allows you to conserve your energy for this physically demanding technique while making it easy to articulate sharply and cleanly at the same time. Great job Jody! - Jim Cheek
